The Grossglockner is at an altitude of 3,798 meters, the highest mountain in Austria. It lies on the border between Carinthia and East Tyrol and is the highest peak in the Glockner group, a group of mountains along the main ridge of the Hohe Tauern. His Majesty the Emperor Franz Joseph emigrated in 1856 at that point, subsequently known as "Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Höhe."
